Kazakhstan suspends Su-27 flights after crash

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan's Defense Ministry has ordered suspension to flights of Su-27 airplanes after one of those planes crashed in Almaty region Tuesday evening (September 23), Major General Marat Uashpayev confirms.

"The Su-27 flights have been suspended until the cause of the Tuesday crash is determined," Major General Uashpayev told a press conference. According to him, several helicopters are searching for the crew of the Su-27. Earlier it was reported that contact was lost with the Su-27 aircraft on September 23 at 20:42 p.m. when the plane was performing training flight with two pilots onboard.
