Kazakhstan seizes KZT 1.5bln worth of smuggled goods from Iran, Turkey

ASTANA. January 23. KAZINFORM Kazakhstani customs authorities have tracked several criminal schemes of smuggling of goods from Turkey and Iran, the representative of the Customs Control Committee under the Finance Ministry, Erden Zhuma told a press briefing Thursday.

In his words, 16 cargo vehicles and 24 railway containers full of the Iranian and Turkish goods worth nearly KZT 1.5 billion were seized by the Kazakhstani customs officials in 2013.

"Criminal cases have been initiated," he added.
