Kazakhstan sees rise in population

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Chairman of the Kazakh Agency for Statistics Alikhan Smailov has had a press briefing today.

In his words, Kazakhstan's population has increased by 60.3 thousand people since the beginning of 2014. It reached 17.2 million people as of April 1, 2014. Nearly 93 thousand newborns were registered in Kazakhstan in January-April 2014. Mr. Smailov also added that city residents constitute 55% of the population, whereas 7.7 million reside in rural areas.
