Kazakhstan sees high divorce rate in 2013

ASTANA. January 15. KAZINFORM Nearly 50 thousand divorces were registered in Kazakhstan in 2013. The dismal figures were released by the Kazakh Statistics Agency this week.
"Above 155 thousand marriages were effected from January through November 2013, 153 thousand - in 2012. Compared to 2012, the number of marriages increased by 1.5%," Alikhan Smailov, the chairman of the agency said.
"47.3 thousand marriages were dissolved last year. In 2012, 45.1 thousand couples obtained a divorce. The number of people who restored their single status in 2013 grew by 4.9%. The divorce rate made 3.04 per 1,000 population.
