The Head of State noted the traditional domestic energy sector is based on such resources as coal, oil and gas. "But since Kazakhstan is the world' s second largest uranium producer, it would be reasonable to look into the possibility of constructing a nuclear power plant here," N. Nazarbayev said. The Kazakh President added that this issue is being negotiated with Russian partners.
