Kazakhstan's Zarina Diyas reaches career high in WTA rankings

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan broke into the top 60 of the WTA rankings this week and has a career high ranking №53 in the world, Kazinform refers to Vesti.kz.

Diyas made a run in London reaching round four at the 2014 Wimbledon Championships and boosting her rankings. She succumbed to world's №3 Simona Halep from Romania in the fourth-round match. This amazing result allowed the 20-year-old Kazakh to leapfrog from №72 up to №53. Yaroslava Shvedova was comparatively stable maintaining her status of Number 1 of Kazakhstan in tennis. She moved 13 spots up to №52 of the WTA rankings. Russia's Maria Sharapova slid down to №6 after sensationally crashing out of the fourth round of Wimbledon. Czech Petra Kvitova reached her career high №4 thanks to her second stunning win at the London-hosted tournament. The top 10 roster includes the only new entrant, fan favorite Canadian Eugenie Bouchard, elbowing aside Angelique Kerber of Germany, Jelena Jankovic of Serbia and Victoria Azarenka of Belarus.
