Kazakhstan's presidential elections were free and fair - Mels Yeleussizov

ASTANA. April 4. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ Chairman of 'Tabigat' Environmental Union Mels Yeleussizov, who ran for presidency, has acknowledged that early presidential elections in Kazakhstan have been free and fair. He has announced it at a briefing in Astana today.

"We should acknowledge that the presidential elections in Kazakhstan were free and fair and were conducted in accordance with the current legislation. A pure competitive political race was carried out during the whole election campaign, beginning from nomination of candidates and ending with vote counting," M.Yeleussizov said.

"The vast majority of the Kazakhstani people associate their success in building the developed state and democratic society with Nursultan Nazarbayev. The real and fair competition gave me an opportunity to see that country needs such a leader," the environmentalist stressed.

He noted that support of his platform convinced the rightness of the chosen line. Mels Yeleussizov intends to strive for strengthening statehood, civic, democracy development in Kazakhstan and raise the issues of the environmental security.

The former candidate congratulated Nursultan Nazarbayev on an impressive victory and thanked electors, who cast their votes for him, and his supporters, who conducted great work during the election campaign.
