Kazakhstan’s OSCE chairmanship – right decision: G.Schroder
ANA. September 25. KAZINFORM /Arnur Rakhymbekov/ The Fourth Eurasian Energy Forum has finished its work today in Astana. Leading figures of the world oil-and-gas sector, representatives of the governmental and business community of foreign countries took part in the Forum.
The second plenary session of the Forum was devoted to the transportation of energy resources. Moderator of the session was Head of "KazEnergy" Association Timur Kulibayev. Reports of former Chancellor of Germany, Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Nord Stream" Gerhard Schroder, Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism of Bulgaria Traicho Traikov, Kazakh Minister of Environment Protection Nurgali Ashimov, president of SOCAR (Azerbaijan) Rovnag Abdullayev and the Director General of "Trans Asia Pipeline" were listened to at the session.
Press conference with ex-Chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schroder was held after the Forum. He said that he was one of three European politicians who supported the Kazakhstan's candidature to the post of the OSCE chairman. "I intend to further support Astana during the period of the coming chairmanship of the Organization. Concerning criticism of the Kazakhstan's claim, I prefer to discuss it in private negotiations with the representatives of the Government and expert community. But these issues can be omitted, taking into account the fact that Kazakhstan is a speedily developing state in Central Asian region. If we address to the religious landscape of the country, we will see how successfully the Kazakh leaders treat different religions. I believe that this is a very valid reason in favor of the Kazakhstan's claim. In this regard, I consider the decision of the OSCE on election of Kazakhstan as the chairman as correct", G. Schroder said.
