Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship discussed in Polish Parliament

ASTANA. January 27. KAZINFORM Kazakh Ambassador to Poland Aleksey Volkov met with the Polish parliamentarians and discussed prior directions of Kazakhstan's activity at the post of the OSCE chairman, Kazinform refers to the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

The Polish deputies were informed on the main goals of Kazakhstan in the OSCE outlined in the video address of the Kazakh President to the OSCE member states and the content of the Road Map of the Kazakhstan's chairmanship, presented by OSCE Chairman-in-office, Kazakh Secretary of State - Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev.

Special attention was paid to the importance of continuing the Corfu process, aimed at development of new approaches in the European security, improvement of the mechanisms of protection of human rights, civil institutes and development of the democracy at the OSCE space. In this regard, the Ambassador informed on allocation of USD 50 mln to Afghanistan in form of humanitarian assistance for education of Afghan students in Kazakhstan by our country.

Head of the Polish delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE Paweł Poncyljusz said that the chairmanship of Astana in the OSCE is a historic chance for Kazakhstan and wished success to our country in this mission. The Polish Deputies appreciated the initiatives of Kazakhstan's chairmanship, including the conduction of the Heads of State and Governments of the OSCE member states.

In regard to location of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in Warsaw the Polish deputies stressed the importance of interaction of Kazakhstan with the ODIHR on the issues of monitoring the presidential and parliamentary elections in the OSCE member states.

Ambassador A.Volkov met with the Saeima (Polish Parliament), members of the Kazakh-Polish Group of Parliamentary Cooperation as well.
