Kazakhstan's Idrissov participated in CSTO and CIS foreign ministers' conferences

On April 3, the Council of the Foreign Ministers of the CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization) held a conference, where the Foreign Ministers of the CSTO member states discussed important issues on foreign policy coordination, major prospective of international situation development as well as a range of other issues related to providing security on the CSTO territory. The conference session resulted in the approval of the plan of consultations of the representatives of the CSTO member states on foreign policy, security and defense for the second half of 2014 - first half of 2015. During the meeting, the participants approved the statements of the Council of the Foreign Ministers of the CSTO member states on Afghanistan in connection with the upcoming presidential elections in the country and the situation in Syria. In addition, a number of administrative issues were discussed at the meeting. The next Conference of the Foreign Ministers of the CSTO member states will take place in Moscow in the second half of 2014, prior to the high-level session of the Council on Collective Security of the CSTO member states. On April 4, Minister Idrissov participated in the regular Conference of the Council of the Foreign Ministers of the CIS member states. The foreign ministers discussed urgent issues of the international agenda, including the recent events in Ukraine. The parties evaluated the results of the realization of the plan on multilevel inter-ministerial consultations within CIS for 2013 and adopted the plan for 2014. The document considers holding ten consultation sessions, including on cooperation within the United Nations, OSCE, disarmament projects and others. During the meeting, the participants adopted the Statement of the Foreign Ministers of the CIS member states on maintaining and strengthening the control over international drug trafficking. The document emphasizes importance of increasing a coordinative role of the United Nations and displays commitment to a constructive dialogue aimed at enhancing effectiveness of international efforts on resolving the drug trafficking problems.
