Kazakhstan's environmental legislation to be amended
ASTANA. February 10. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ Draft Law "On amendments to some legislative acts of Kazakhstan on environmental issues" was presented in the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament on Thursday.
Kazakh Minister of Environment Protection Nurgali Ashimov said presenting the bill that the proposed amendments were aimed at strengthening the administrative and criminal liability for environmental offences, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through introduction of market mechanisms, decrease the volume of waste accumulation. The bill introduces amendments to the Environmental, Criminal, Tax, Fiscal Codes and to the Code "On administrative offences" and others.
"The work on the bill was conducted together with the interested state bodies and aimed at improvement of environmental situation", N.Ashimov said.
