Kazakhstan's economic growth to make 6.2% in 2011, UNESCAP
ASTANA. May 5. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ According to the forecast of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (UNESCAP), the economic growth of Kazakhstan will make 6.2% in 2011, Noeleen Heyzer, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of ESCAP, told a press conference in Astana.
"Thanks to favorable environment the country's economy will further its advance by 6.2% in 2011," Noeleen Heyzer said during the presentation of the Economic and Social Situation Survey of Asia and the Pacific for 2011.
"Last year the inflation rates amounted to 7.1% the countrywide, but since January 2011 inflation exceeded 8% as a result of global food rises.
In the nearest future Kazakhstan will have to tune up closer cooperation in the areas of trade and energy with the large regional economies. Strengthening of the regional energy cooperation will be very productive," she noted.
