Kazakhstan reports 3.7% economic growth in 5M2026

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a Government meeting to discuss the fulfillment of the President’s directives to ensure sustainable economic growth with a focus on diversification, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing primeminister.kz.

The meeting also discussed the current parameters of sectoral development. Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin, Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev, Minister of Energy Erlan Akkenzhenov, Minister of Industry and Construction Yerssaiyn Nagaspayev, Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov and Minister of Finance Madi Takiyev presented reports.

According to the Ministry of National Economy, between January and May 2026, the country’s economic growth hit 3.7%. Industry expanded by 9%, with machine building sector demonstrating a 22.2% increase in output.

In the reporting period, the country produced 81,000 units of vehicles.

Growth was also strong in chemical industry (17.8%) and in the production of construction materials (18.7%). In agriculture, physical production volume reached 103.6%.

Following the meeting, the prime minister highlighted the need to intensify the implementation of investment projects, timely launch of new productions and effective use of the existing growth reserves. The ministers were tasked to adopt all required measures to achieve the paces of growth set.
