Kazakhstan proposes to host OSCE top-level summit in Oct 29-30, 2010 in Astana

ALMATY OBLAST. July 17. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ Holding the OSCE summit namely in 2010 is an intensive need caused by the current tectonic changes in Europe and Eurasian space. Secretary of State-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev said it today at the OSCE Foreign Ministers informal meeting in Almaty oblast.

"Now is the time when the leaders of the OSCE states must show political will and respond to modern challenges and threats faced by their nations today. At long last, this is a duty of the heads of state and governments - to promote strengthening cooperation and security for the good of their countries", Saudabayev stressed.

"Initiating the idea on holding the OSCE Summit this year President Nursultan Nazarbayev has demonstrated such qualities of the leader. And today, dear colleagues, we must show wisdom and responsibility and reach a consensus on the agenda of the sitting and define the date and place of holding the Summit. Following our preliminary consultations, we propose to hold the Summit on October 29-30, 2010 in Astana", said the Minister and added that Kazakhstan was ready to hold a part of a Review Conference on third dimension of the OSCE on the eve of the Summit.
