Kazakhstan proposed long-term vision of OSCE future

ASTANA. January 31. KAZINFORM Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the OSCE Kairat Abdrakhmanov visited Washington on January 27-29, 2011 to take part in conference "Passing the Torch of the OSCE Chairmanship" organized by the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Kazinform has learned it from the press service of the Kazakh Embassy in the USA.

The main purpose of the conference was to sum up the results of Kazakhstan's OSCE presidency and define prospects for Organization's further development. Jamestown Foundation's Senior Fellow Vladimir Socor said: "The presidency of Kazakhstan was the most successful one in the recent years as long as it promoted the dialogue on the most controversial issues of the Organizations' agenda".

All participants of the conference agreed that Kazakhstan has brought a new positive energy into the Organization charging all member states from Vancouver to Vladivostok with this energy and proposing long-term vision of the OSCE development.

Outstanding American experts on Eurasian and European security and on the OSCE and Central Asia issues took part in the conference.
