According to the OSCE Secretary General, Agence France-Presse (AFP) news agency should admit that the former Soviet republic has decided to strengthen relations with the West and it was "a strong choice" of the European way to modernization. Marc Perrin de Brichambaut noted that "Kazakhstan profoundly entrenched itself in the West, and maintained good relations with Russia, and it is very important".

"Seeds that we "sowed" in Kazakhstan, in Central Asia, will grow", he added.

The OSCE Secretary General expressed appreciation to the Kazakh Government for holding the OSCE chairmanship this year and organization of the OSCE Summit in the capital of Kazakhstan. Presidency in the OSCE is an "extremely difficult task", which claims heavy spending. Even so, Kazakhstan tried very hard during the chairmanship and conducted an active work, he said.
