Kazakhstan population amounted to 17 207 000 - Statistics

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The population of Kazakhstan as of March 1 of the current year amounted to 17 207,000 people, this has been reported today by the chairman of the Statistics Agency Alikhan Smailov.
"Over the past 12 months the population grew by 1.5 %, or 253,000 people", said A. Smailov. In general, according to statistical data, in January-February 2014, the agency registered 64,000 births, which is 2.9 % less than in the same period of the last year. At the same time the number of deaths amounted to 22,000 people, which is 8.8 % less than in January-February last year.
