Kazakhstan plans to export 10,000 tons of high-quality meat in 2014
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Nowadays Kazakhstan is paying great attention to the development of multilateral agricultural industry, and one of the priorities identified in this work is increasing the export potential of cattle meat. In accordance with that task meat export potential is projected to reach 60,000 tons in 2016, this has been announced today by Asylzhan Mamytbekov, Agriculture Minister, at a Cabinet's meeting.
Head of Agriculture Ministry explained that the very core of the project is in building a cost-effective process chain. Thus, there have being taken measures to increase the number of breeding cattle.
«From this year, in addition to subsidiaries of «KazAgro» holding, for financing farmers for livestock purchasing there will be involved second-tier banks and credit unions. In the framework of «Agribusiness 2020» new program the state budget will subsidize interest rate on loans up to 4%», said A.Mamytbekov.
According to the Ministry, KazAgro starts financing participants of «Sybaga» program via simplified scheme and without collateral.
Asylzhan Mamytbekov noted that this year it is planned to export at least 10,000 tonnes of high quality meat. He also stressed that about KZT 4 billion is needed for subsidies under «Agribusiness 2020» program and the Minister asked to take into account that fact while adjusting the budget.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov raised the issue of dismissals of district Akims who are not involved in the process of breeding stock cattle improvement.
PM noted that the Akims, in fact, do not fulfill the President's instructions, since the improvement of cattle breeding stock is the base for cattle export potential.
Head of the Cabinet instructed to ensure effective and timely implementation of all measures in the enhancement of the agricultural sector in the country.
