Kazakhstan permanent representative to International Organizations in Vienna met with Dean of International Anti-Corruption Academy

ASTANA. KAZINFORM On 15 April 2014, H.E. Mr. Kairat Sarybay, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the International Organizations in Vienna, met with Mr. Martin Kreutner, the Dean of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (Academy) and the Executive Secretary of the Academy's Assembly of Parties, on the occasion of presentation of his Letter of Credence.

During the meeting Martin Kreutner welcomed Kazakhstan's accession to the Agreement for the Establishment of the International Anti-Corruption Academy as an International Organization and highly appreciated Kazakhstan's commitment to the main provisions of the UN Convention against Corruption and the guiding principles of the International Anti-Corruption Academy. The Dean of the Academy has also drawn attention to various academic programs and trainings, the Kazakh MFA said.

In his turn, Permanent Representative Kairat Sarybay noted Kazakhstan's positive assessment of the activities of the Academy and informed of Kazakhstan's interest to cooperate with the Academy on building national capacity to combat corruption. The Kazakh diplomat said that the specific areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Academy will be defined in coming years and also invited the Dean of the Academy to participate in the 8th Annual Conference of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Agencies, to be held on October 1-3, 2014 in Astana.

The parties expressed hope for fruitful cooperation in efforts to fight corruption at the national and international levels and agreed to continue interaction on arranging studies of Kazakhstani experts at the Academy.

The International Anti-Corruption Academy (Academy) was established in 2010 at the initiative of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the European Anti-Fraud Office and the Government of Austria on the basis of the Agreement for the Establishment of the International Anti-Corruption Academy as an international organization.
