Kazakhstan ? our strategic partner: Governor of Antwerp, Belgium

BRUSSELS. May 21. KAZINFORM /Yerzhan Ospanov/ Governor of Antwerp, one of the most important provinces of Belgium, Cathy Berx will visit Astana, Almaty and Aktau cities in the second half of September of the current year. In this connection, Ambassador Kazakhstan to this country Yerik Utembayev met with the head of the province for discussing the issues of her forthcoming visit. In particular, the parties defined the priority issues of bilateral cooperation in trade and economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres, the press service of the Kazakh Embassy in Brussels informs.

The Ambassador acquainted the Governor with the measures on Kazakhstan?s post-crisis development outlined in President Nursultan Nazarbayev?s Message to the Nation Through Crisis to Renovation and Prosperity and in his report at the XII Extraordinary Congress of Nur Otan People?s Democratic Party. C. Berx highly appraised Kazakhstan?s strategy targeted on diversification of economy, forced realization of industrial-innovative development program, development of oil and gas sector, nuclear energy, transport corridors, non-primary productions and infrastructure. Y. Utembayev noted Kazakhstan expressed huge interest in Belgium?s experience in modernization of sea tanker fleet and port infrastructure. C. Berx invited the Head of the Kazakhstan mission to visit the Antwerp sea port. The Kazakh Diplomat drew the Governor?s attention to big potential of Mangystau oblast and told about the opportunities of Mangystau Free Economic Zone where innovation-industrial projects are being implemented at present. According to C. Berx, top-managers of the Belgian companies who will accompany her in her trip are confident in fruitfulness of the oncoming meetings and talks. ?We would like to show the world that Kazakhstan is our strategic partner?, the Governor said. Besides Antwerp gives particular attention to cooperation with Kazakhstan in education and proposed to establish exchange of students, she pointed out. The parties also discussed an opportunity of establishment of twin-city relations between Mangystau oblast and Antwerp province. This initiative has already been supported by Albert II, the King of Belgians. C. Berx also welcomed this idea of Kazakhstan and told about necessity of coordination of this issue with the deputies of the regional parliament of France.
