Kazakhstan-Norway working group for energy cooperation gathered in Astana
ASTANA. October 4. KAZINFORM The 4th meeting of Kazakhstan-Norway working group for energy cooperation took place in Astana, according to the press service of the Kazakh Embassy in Norway.
This working group is the only institutionalized mechanism of Kazakh-Norwegian bilateral relations. The first inaugural meeting was held in 2007, but the mechanism did not work until 2010, when the group was revived. For the past two years the working group held three meetings, extended the range of topics to discuss, increased the number of participants.
The fourth meeting was attended by the representatives of Norwegian companies such as Statoil, Carbon Limits, DNV, INTSOK, Kvaerner Caspian, RKK, who came to Kazakhstan to take part in the VII KAZENERGY Forum.
The working croup discussed and signed documents on the following issues: 1) cooperation in the field of energy efficiency, 2) cooperation on the exchange of experiences on the use of associated gas, 3) cooperation on staff development, 4) cooperation in oil and gas sector of the two countries, in particular, exploration and production, bringing new technologies, services, and the development of local content.
The participants of the 4th meeting of the working group expressed confidence in enhancing cooperation on all issues discussed and reaffirmed their commitment to a mutually beneficial partnership between Kazakhstan and Norway in all areas of cooperation.
Following the talks, it was decided to hold the next regular meeting of the WG in Norway in 2013.
