Kazakhstan needs local wheelchair producer - Majilis deputy G.Ihsanova
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Wheelchair production plant should be built in Kazakhstan, this opinion has been expressed by Majilis deputy Gulnara Ihsanova at the Government Hour with the Minister of Labour and Social Protection Tamara Duissenova.
"Wheelchairs of different modifications should be produced in Kazakhstan", said G.Ihsanova. In her speech, the MP noted that currently wheelchairs have been purchased without the participation of health workers, and, thus, without regard to the individual characteristics of persons with disabilities. In addition, public procurement gives preference to cheaper Chinese-made wheelchairs which are in most cases of low quality. G.Ihsanova stressed that for the last 3 years local budgets allocated over KZT 1 billion for purchasing 17,000 wheelchairs. That data show that the country needs a local wheelchair producer to fulfill the product demand. The deputy noted that it was necessary to develop an investment project to build a plant for the production of means for rehabilitation with branches in all regions of Kazakhstan.
