Kazakhstan must turn into transport-logistics corridor in CA - WCO Sec Gen
ALMATY. December 15. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ Kazakhstan must become a transport-logistics corridor in Central Asia, Secretary General of the World Customs Organziation Kunio Mikuriya has said within his visit to Almaty-Customs Formalities Center post Tuesday.
The Head of the WCO familiarized himself with the activity of the post, the system of management of e-queue, customs formalities.
According to Mikuriya, Kazakhstan has done huge modernization work of the customs services. "Kazakhstan has simplified the border-crossing procedures due to its strategic position. The country tries to become a transport-logistics corridor, a center of communications. For the whole Central Asian region Kazakhstan must become a leader in all these initiatives", he stressed.
K. Mikuriya's visit to Kazakhstan started on Monday, December 14. Yesterday in Astana K. Mikuriya and heads of CA customs organizations took part in a ceremonial opening of a regional educational center of the World Customs Organization.
