Kazakhstan may introduce visa-free regime ahead of EXPO-2017 in Astana

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan is planning to introduce simplified visa procedures on the threshold of the EXPO-2017 event in the Kazakh capital.

Aset Mussagaliyev, the Chairman of the Committee for Tourist Industry under the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, made it public during the Astana-Moscow-Kiev-Chisinau-Yerevan video bridge dedicated to the development of tourism industry in the CIS member countries.

"A special project on group visas in under development in conjunction with the Foreign Affairs Ministry. Up to 15 foreigners will be able to get Kazakhstani visas within a temporary window specially created for the EXPO event in Astana. This is one of the options we've been considering. We are also looking into the possibility of introducing a visa-free regime as the second option," Mr. Mussagaliyev said.

At the event it was also noted that 2014 was announced the Year of Tourism in the CIS.
