Kazakhstan may become a transit bridge to deliver goods from the Caspian countries to China – Kazakh President
ASTRAKHAN. KAZINFORM - Speaking at the IV Summit of Heads of Caspian littoral states, Kazakhstan's President proposed to use its transit routes as bridges for the delivery of goods from the Caspian states to the markets of other countries.
"One of the important achievements of today's summit, in my opinion, is the approval of the principle of free access from the Caspian Sea to other seas, oceans and back on the basis of universally recognized norms and principles of international law", said the Head of State. President Nazarbayev stressed that today Kazakhstan has a developed network of transit routes, such as "North and South", TRACECA, port Lanyungan from China to Khorgos and to the port of Aktau on the Caspian Sea. It should be noted that the construction of the road corridor "Western Europe - Western China" will be completed soon. During this year, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran plan to finally dock railroad from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to Iran, the Persian Gulf. "With the opening of routes through Kazakhstan, we propose to use them as a transit bridge to deliver goods from the Caspian states to the markets of other countries including to China and Pacific states. Thus, governments of the countries may consider entering into an intergovernmental agreement", concluded the President.
