Kazakhstan marks International Nurses Day

On May 12, Kazakhstan joined the global celebration of International Nurses Day, honoring more than 145,000 nurses across the country, Qazinform News Agency reports.

Nurses are the most numerous category of healthcare profssionals, ensuring patient care from first consultation through treatment and rehabilitation.

Over 188,000 mid-level medical specialists work in Kazakhstan, including 145,000 nurses.

Over 50,000 serve in rural areas, and some 65,000 provide primary healthcare services.

Nurses now play a greater role in managing chronic diseases, prevention, monitoring, and patient counseling.

94 medical colleges, including 42 higher medical colleges, train more than 109,000 students currently. Programs range from junior nursing to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels.

Notably, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Health plans to transition school preventive medical examinations to a digital format and strengthen the early detection of health issues among children.
