Kazakhstan marks first Nauryz of third decade of its independence - Nazarbayev

"Today is a special favorite spring holiday, which returned from the depths of centuries. Especially in the years of independence we celebrate this holiday every year. It is celebrated by representatives of all ethnic groups in our country. This is a celebration of friendship and unity and the spring equinox. I congratulate all Kazakhstanis on this wonderful holiday," Nursultan Nazarbayev said making a speech on the square near "Kazakh Eli" monument in Astana on Thursday.

The President noted the constructive role of Nauryz. He recalled that on this day people usually forgive each other old grievances, wear the most beautiful clothes, plant trees, clean springs.

"In the years of independence our country has turned this holiday into a symbol of unity and friendship of all peoples who live in our country, the Republic of Kazakhstan," the President concluded.
