Kazakhstan makes every effort to responsibly and effectively preside over SCO

ALMATY. February 22. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ A two-day international scientific-practical conference "Ten Years along the Path of Security and Cooperation: Success Stories to Counter Modern Threats and Challenges within the SCO" was opened in Almaty on Tuesday.

The event is held within the Kazakhstan's SCO presidency in 2010-2011. SCO Secretary General Muratbek Imanaliyev, Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS Dzhenisbek Dzhumanbekov, Kazakh Deputy Foreign Ministry Kairat Sarybai, representatives of the state bodies and leading scientific research centers, observers and SCO dialogue partners, reps of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan are taking part in the Conference.

The welcome address of the Kazakh Foreign Minister reads that the conference is an important component of the work conducted by the Organization member states on preparation to the session of the Heads of State Council dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the SCO.

"All SCO member states strive to make the upcoming Astana top-level meeting a significant event in the further development of our Organization which is the most important institution for international and regional security and cooperation. In the year of celebration the 20th independence anniversary Kazakhstan makes every effort to responsibly and effectively preside over the SCO," the address reads.
