Kazakhstan keeps an eye on the situation with Kazakh-born kids allegedly abused by their American adoptive parents: Minister of Education
ASTANA. August 2. KAZINFORM The Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan keeps control of the situation with Kazakhstan-born children adopted by a U.S. couple back in 2004, Minister Bakytzhan Zhumagulov has told a briefing in Astana today.
"This issue is being examined by the Committee for Children's Rights Protection under the Ministry of Education and Science. Since these children were born in Kazakhstan, we are genuinely worried about their future," said Zhumagulov.
"We have already sent all necessary materials to the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Kazakhstan, foreign consulates abroad and keep the situation under check. We look forward to the decision of the Worcester Superior Court in the U.S.," added the minister.
The U.S. court is currently hearing the case of the Kazakh-born boy and girl who were allegedly sexually abused by their American adoptive parents. Joseph Mayotte, 50, and wife Linda, 49, are on trial on charges that include child rape, indecent assault and battery on a child, and incest. Back in 2010 the married couple were acquitted of the same charges, however, three years later the case was reopened due to new testimonies made by the adopted children.
