Kazakhstan is Central Asian leader in social security - ISSA Secretary General

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan is the leader in social security among Central Asian countries, said Secretary General of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) Hans-Horst Konkolewsky at the press briefing in Astana.

Mr. Konkolewsky is the participant of the III International Scientific Practical Conference themed "From social security - to social progress" in the Kazakh capital. "Kazakhstan is the Central Asian leader in social security. The country has been through many reforms since it attained independence. It all has been done to balance out the system of social security," he noted. When asked about the minimum pension size in Kazakhstan, the ISSA Secretary General stressed that fact the country offers minimum pension to its citizens means that the Government pays utmost attention to social security and does its best to protect the population. The conference brought together Kazakh MPs, government officials, representatives of international social institutes, the International Labor Organization, the National Chamber of entrepreneurs, experts from the CIS member countries, Europe, Africa and Latin America. The event is set to discuss the new principles of social policy in the conditions of global crisis and focus on the problems in the sphere of social security, including social insurance.
