Kazakhstan, Iran naval forces to strengthen cooperation

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Commander of the Iranian Navy Habibollah Sayyari and a delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran have arrived in Astana with the official visit, Kazinform refers to the press service of the Defense Ministry of Kazakhstan.

In Astana, the Iranian delegation met with their colleagues from the Defense Ministry of Kazakhstan and the Naval Forces command of Kazakhstan. At the meeting, Commander-in-chief of the Kazakh Naval Forces Rear Admiral Zhandarbek Zhanzakov noted that the visit is one more step closer to strengthening cooperation between the naval forces of Kazakhstan and Iran. Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, in turn, thanked the Kazakh side for cordial reception and stressed that the two countries have an influence in their regions. Kazakhstan and Iran both have access to the Caspian Sea and, in this context, their cooperation is of paramount importance. The two nations ensure security in the region and are interested in cooperation in various spheres of marine affairs, including students' training and exchange, manufacture and maintenance of military equipment, holding of joint practical exercises, etc. The Iranian delegation will stay in Kazakhstan until Friday, March 6. It will pay a visit to Kazakhstan Engineering JSC and deliver a lecture at the national University of Defense of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Leader of the Nation. The delegation is also planning to visit military facilities in Atyrau.
