Kazakhstan intends to join Group of States against Corruption

ASTANA. September 16. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ "Kazakhstan intends to join the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO)", Chairman of the Kazakh Agency Fighting Economic and Corruption Crimes Kairat Kozhamzharov has said today upon the results of the international anti-corruption conference.

Adoption of the Astana Declaration is an important event witnessing the fact that Kazakhstan adheres to international standards in the struggling against corruption. The Head of the Agency noted that representatives of the Council of Europe were specially invited to the conference.

"Despite the fact that Kazakhstan is not a member of the Council, we proposed the Council to support our initiative on ratification of two Strasbourg Conventions on Corruption", the Head of the Agency said.

K.Kozhamzharov also noted that this would help our country to join the GRECO.
