Kazakhstan intends to improve structure of bilateral trade with Russia

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia is one of the most important areas of economic cooperation. These and other business cooperation perspectives have been discussed today in Moscow at the conference "Investment partnership - industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia within the SES".

Opening the event, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Russia Yerik Yakubayev voiced a greeting word of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russian Marat Tajin. "Symbolically, the conference is taking place on the eve of the signing of the Treaty on the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union. This major event, which captures the transition to the next phase of the new development, and strengthen regional integration, is important in terms of maintaining competitiveness of our countries", noted in his welcoming speech. According to the diplomat, the Eurasian Union will create a unique opportunity allowing member-states to become the leaders in the emerging global and regional challenges. It was noted that ‘Kazakhstan is interested to deepen the work to improve the structure of bilateral trade with Russia. Therefore, industrial cooperation and the creation of production chains is becoming one of the most important areas of economic partnership'. In turn, the vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Russian Federation Georgiy Petrov also confirmed the need for the development of industrial cooperatives. G.Petrov noted that in 2013 in mutual trade between the CU states decreased. This was a reflection of domestic economic trends - economic slowdown and a decrease in investment activity, faced by the economy of the three countries. However, according to him, the current structure of mutual trade of the CU states looks better than the structure of foreign trade. The conference will carry out a plenary session, as well as sections in "BtoB" format. Participants will discuss the legal and practical aspects of investment opportunities and conditions to support enterprises promoting goods and services. The conference was organized by Trade Representation of Kazakhstan in Russia with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation. The event was attended by about 200 people including representatives of SES, government agencies, national and international companies, industry associations, unions of Kazakhstan and Russia, enterprise-producers, analytical and expert centers.
