Kazakhstan improves position in UN e-Government ranking

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - According to the UN e-government ranking Kazakhstan gained 10 positions and rose to 38th place, the press service of the Agency for Communication and Information reports.

The United Nations Public Administration Network conducts a bi-annual e-Government survey which includes a section titled e-Government Readiness. It is a comparative ranking of the countries of the world according to two primary indicators: i) the state of e-government readiness; and ii) the extent of e-participation. As part of the next stage of e-government development, Kazakhstan plans to implement ‘mobile government', which will provide services via mobile devices. More than 50 facilities and services will be available through mobile devices by the yearend. By the way, in October of the current year Kazakhstan will host the Global e-Government Forum 2014, which will bring together leading international experts in the field of information and communication technologies and e- government development. The forum was initiated by the United Nations and was first held in 2012 in South Korea, a leader of the UN rating for e-Government.
