Kazakhstan hopes for the Russian support on «Western Europe-Western China» transcontinental project
ASTANA. September 12. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan hopes for the Russian support for "Western Europe-Western China" transcontinental project, said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Erlan Idrissov.
"I would like to draw attention to a major transcontinental project named "Western Europe-Western China ". We believe that the development of the infrastructure of the East-West and North-South vectors meet our long-term interests", said Idrissov at a meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
It bears to remind that the reconstruction of the main roads of "Western Europe-Western China" has begun in 2009 on the initiative of the Kazakh President. Motor corridor will be the fastest route for the transportation of goods from China to Europe.
The total length of the corridor on the route "St. Petersburg - Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod - Kazan-Orenburg - Aktobe - Kyzylorda - Shymkent - Taraz - Kordai - Almaty - Khorgos - Urumqi - Lanzhou - Zhengzhou - Lianyungang " will be 8445 km . The Russia Federation will have 2,233 km; 2,787 km will lay through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 3425 km through the People's Republic of China.
Three sources of funding have been identified for the project's implementation: national budget, foreign loans (International Bank for Reconstruction and Development will allocate USD 2,125 million, the Asian Development Bank - USD 700 million , the Islamic Development Bank - USD 398 million and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development — USD 180 million) and the third source of funding is attraction of private investment on a concession basis in the amount of KZT 266.6 billion.
