Kazakhstan Homeland of Tulips Exhibition opened in Astana
ANA. July 14. KAZINFORM /Anna Sizova/ A vernissage titled "Kazakhstan Homeland of Tulips " has taken place today in Astana at the Exhibit Hall of the Artists Union; Kazinform reports.
The exhibition has the same name as the National Festival passed in Kazakhstan from April to May, 2009. The event was organized by "Gulstan" Magazine, "Gulzar" Public Union and different environment projects, with support of the Embassy of Netherlands, Forestry and Hunting Committee and UN Development Program.
"The event aimed at preserving flora in Kazakhstan where are 34 types of tulips whereas 12 of them listed the Red Book", - Project Coordinator K. Kossalganova noted. The organizers of the event emphasized that Kazakhstan is a home of tulips but not the Netherlands.
According to Deputy Permanent Representative of the UN Development Program Steliana Nedera the next year festival will possibly expand the topics at the expense of other types of plants. The exhibition will last till July, 20.
