Kazakhstan has been and remains reliable ally of Turkmenistan – Kassym-Jomart Tokayev
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Serdar Berdimuhamedov held negotiations behind closed doors. Prior to the talks, a welcome ceremony for the Kazakh President was held at the Oguzhan Presidential Palace. The heads of state introduced members of official delegations to each other, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the press service of Akorda.
The Kazakh President said he attached exceptional importance to the regular top-level meetings, which serve as a strong platform for expanding the multifaceted cooperation.
“For us, Turkmenistan is a very close country, a natural strategic partner. I would like to say that Kazakhstan has been and remains a reliable ally of Turkmenistan in all spheres mentioned by you – be it energy, transport, logistics, or cultural-humanitarian cooperation. We respect Turkmenistan’s neutral status in the international area. We consider that Turkmenistan hugely contributes to ensuring regional and international security. We are ready to closely interact with each other, first of all, within the UN and other international organizations,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to the development of strategic partnership with the fraternal Kazakhstan.
“We are thankful to Kazakhstan for a firm support of Turkmenistan’s neutral foreign policy course as well as its international initiatives put forward within the UN and other international structures. In turn, Turkmenistan supports Kazakhstan’s foreign policy. We attach special importance to the development of trade-economic ties between our countries. We intend to continue our joint activity in such important areas as energy, transport, trade, agriculture, and high technologies. The cultural and humanitarian ties are also of great importance in the relations between our countries," Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.
Upon completion of the meeting the sides stated their readiness to continue joint efforts to further strengthen the friendly relations between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
