Kazakhstan fulfils its chairmanship in OSCE with exceptional dynamism - OSCE PA President Joao Soares

ANA. July 7. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE has been highly appraised at the 19th Annual Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE opened in Oslo (Norway); Kazinform refers to the press service of the Kazakh Senate.

Delivering a speech at the opening ceremony, OSCE PA President Joao Soares emphasized: "Kazakhstan fulfills its chairmanship in the Organization with exceptional dynamism".

The meeting participants discussed the results of the Trans-Asian Parliamentary Forum held in May this year in Almaty. As the parliamentarians noted, recommendations and ideas proposed at the Almaty meeting will be reflected in the projects of separate resolutions which will be adopted by the Assembly in the capital of Norway.

OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut voiced address of OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Kazakh Secretary of State - Minister of Foreign Affairs Kanat Saudabayev to the parliamentary community.

During the plenary session special debates on the situation in Kyrgyzstan were held. Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Knut Vollebaek, Special Representative of the PA for Central Asia Kimmo Kiljunen, and head of a delegation of the interim government of Kyrgyzstan Omerbek Tekebayev made reports on this topic.

The parliamentary community welcomed the referendum results held in Kyrgyzstan on June 27, and the current initiative of the OSCE on sending police task force to Kyrgyzstan. Within the framework of the measures on regulation of the situation in the neighbor country Kazakhstan's efforts as the OSCE chair country were noted.
