Kazakhstan & France strengthen cooperation in space sector

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - During the recent visit of French President Francois Hollande to Kazakhstan there have been adopted a number of bilateral documents including an agreement on cooperation in the space sector.

In particular, in the presence of Nursultan Nazarbayev and Francois Hollande there was signed a protocol on amendments and additions to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the French Republic on the conditions for the creation and use of a space remote sensing system, as well as the assembly and test complex of spacecraft, dated October 6, 2009. In addition "Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary NC" JSC and Airbus Defence and Space have inked a memorandum of understanding. Speaking about the purpose of these agreements, Kazkosmos noted that both documents were adopted in order to further collaborate in the implementation of joint projects to create a space system for remote sensing, construction of the assembly and test complex for spacecraft in the city of Astana. Recall that at the present time there are two Kazakh spacecraft in the orbit - ERS (earth remote sensing) of high (1m) and medium (6.5 m) spatial resolution, designed by the French company Airbus Defence and Space.
