"During the years of independence Kazakhstan in cooperation with other states and such respected organizations as the IAEA and CTBTO, has been actively and consistently working to strengthen the nuclear nonproliferation regime.

Kazakhstan has consistently supported the early entry into force of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. We believe that the CTBT will be one of the most concrete and effective tools in non-proliferation.

Kazakhstan's example serves as convincing evidence of the reality of a world free of nuclear weapons. We believe that if there is a political will of the people and leaders of all states, this goal can be achieved," notes Kazykhanov.
