Kazakhstan ? EU: further strengthening of energy dialogue

BRUSSELS. May 16. KAZINFORM /Yerzhan Ospanov/ Meeting of Kazakh Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Belgium Yerik Utembayev with European commissioner for Energy Andris Piebalgs was held yesterday in Brussels. The sides discussed prospects of extension and deepening of strategic energy partnership between Kazakhstan and the EU, Kazinform refers to the Kazakh Embassy in Brussels.
Ambassador Y.Utembayev noted that the energy dialogue forms the basis and potential of long-term economic partnership of Kazakhstan and the EU. Today Kazakhstan exports energy resources to the amount of over USD 23.5 bln to European country that is 54% of the total export of the Kazakh crude oil.
The European Commissioner complimented dynamic development of the Kazakh-European cooperation in the field of energy and absence of problems in this field of relations, reminding successful participation of Kazakhstan in ?Rompetrol? Romanian oil enterprise. He expressed gratitude for participation of the Kazakh representatives in energy summit ?South Corridor ? new Silk Road?, held on May 8, 2009 in Prague.
A.Piebalgs apprisiated the proposal of Kazakh President N.Nazarbayev on establishment of the International Bank of Nuclear Fuel on the territory of Kazakhstan, noting the importance of strategic interconnectedness of the sides in the field of nuclear energy for provision of the global security.
