Kazakhstan, EU discussed prospects of coop in prevention, forecasting and liquidation of consequences of emergency situations
BRUSSELS. July 14. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ The prospects of cooperation between the European Union and Kazakhstan regarding prevention, forecasting and liquidation of the consequences of emergency situations were discussed within the visit of the Kazakhstan's delegation headed by Minister of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan Vladimir Bozhko to Brussels.
As the Kazakhstan's Minister noted, Kazakhstan is interested in development of cooperation with the European Commission because it is the main executive body of the European Union which concentrates and coordinates the activities of 27 European countries and candidate states that are still going to join the Union in emergency situations . Besides, it provides humanitarian aid in relatively small amount around the world.
'We need to learn from the accumulated here experience. Taking into account the instructions of President of the country Nursultan Nazarbayev regarding establishment of emergency centers and crisis response system it is very important for us now,' V. Bozhko said.
European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response Kristalina Georgieva, in her turn noted, noted that crisis response system was at quite high level in Kazakhstan like in European Union countries. Therefore the meeting with the Emergency Situations Minister of Kazakhstan was very productive regarding further development of cooperation and experience exchange. 'We discussed the opportunities of our interaction on information exchange, training of personnel and joint activities in the sphere of providing assistance to third countries,' K. Georgieva noted.
