Kazakhstan develops climate change adaptation strategy
ANA. October 1. KAZINFORM /Yevgeny Novikov/ A press-conference dedicated to global climate changes took place on September, 22 at the session of the UN General Assembly has taken place in Astana today.
Kazakh Minister of Environment Nurgali Ashimov participated in the event. He noted that the session participants shared the opinion that climate change is not only a global environmental challenge but it also influences economic, social and political aspects in every countries.
N. Ashimov said that in New-York he discussed global environmental issues with Deputy UN Secretary General on economic and social issues Sha Tzukan. In the course of the meeting the Minister informed of the measures of Kazakhstan on combating climate change as well as the issues of wastes of production, deficit of water recourses, preservation of biodiversity, preservation of desertification including the Aral region.
According to Head of Kyoto Protocol Department of the Kazakh Ministry of Environment Tolebay Adilov principal actions on implementation of the Protocol were determined.
The Ministry started to develop the climate change adaptation strategy of Kazakhstan and is studying the experience of Germany and France on this issue.
The measures aimed at reduction of carbon footprint and creation of low-carbonic economy based on clean technology.
