Kazakhstan develops Bastau comprehensive program to boost child health
Kazakhstan’s Health Ministry has announced the development of the Bastau comprehensive program, focused on advancing preventive medicine and improving long-term health outcomes for children, Qazinfrom News Agency reports via the Ministry.
Kazakh Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova chaired a meeting on Friday to outline the ministry’s primary objectives for pediatric medicine. Key highlights include the improvement of school medicine, the digitalization of preventive screenings, the implementation of the Salamatty Mektep (Healthy School) program, and the organization of the summer wellness campaign
It was noted that the Healthy Summer 2025 initiative successfully reached over 365,500 children in Kazakhstan's remote regions with preventive care and wellness programs. Building on this momentum, this year’s efforts will focus on making medical screenings even more accessible and widely available.
Special focus was placed on digitalization, specifically the implementation of electronic health passports for children to ensure systematic health monitoring and early risk detection. At the same time, efforts to improve infrastructure are ongoing, including the opening of preventative dental clinics.
The minister highlighted that the state closely controls children’s health, implementing the Children of Kazakhstan program as instructed by the president.
According to the country’s Health Ministry, the Bastau program focuses on building a robust system for pediatric disease prevention and early diagnosis, while improving healthcare accessibility in rural and isolated areas.
Earlier, Qazinform reported Kazakhstan plans to digitize school medical checkups.
