The presidents signed the joint declaration between the two states, intergovernmental agreement on mutual allocation of land plots for building diplomatic offices in the two countries and intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of maritime traffic.

Nursultan Nazarbayev noted great achievements in economy and politics of Azerbaijan. "Our countries have passed the years of independence with dignity," he said.

Ilham Aliyev congratulated Kazakhstan on the 20th anniversary of independence and praised impressive progress in all spheres. "Kazakhstan's success is seen in the appearance of your cities and new capital Astana."

Though the volume of trade between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan amounts to 60 percent, the two presidents are not fully satisfied with this index. They believe that projects in transport, agriculture and trade fields should help fully realize the trade potential.
