Kazakhstan, China plan to increase bilateral trade up to USD 40 bn

ASTANA. August 19. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan and China are planning to increase bilateral trade up to 40 billion dollars by 2015, Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov told a briefing devoted to the official visit of China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Kazakhstan, according to the web-site of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.

"The volume of bilateral trade was 23.9 billion dollars in 2012. We have set an ambitious goal to increase this figure to 40 billion dollars by 2015," Idrissov said.

The head of the Foreign Ministry of China said that during the talks the ministers discussed issues of transboundary rivers.

"I know that the Kazakh community closely monitors the issues related to water resources of transboundary rivers. The two countries have good relations on this issue. I would like to stress that China and Kazakhstan are reliable partners, and on the issue of transboundary rivers China does not encroach upon interests of Kazakhstan," Wang Yi noted.

The foreign ministers of Kazakhstan and China discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation on Monday in Astana.
