Kazakhstan, China commemorate 20 years of diplomatic relations
ASTANA. May 28. KAZINFORM An official reception on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the Republic of Kazakhstan and People's Republic of China was held at Westin Beijing Chaoyang Hotel in Beijing on May 25.
The event was organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan to People's Republic of China, Kazakh Foreign Ministry's press service reports.
The event brought together 250 guests, including representatives of Chinese ministries and agencies, analytical and academic structures, business circles, leading Chinese mass media and heads of foreign diplomatic missions and large companies.
In his speech Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to China Nurlan Yermekbayev said that over the two decades Kazakhstan and China had formed a classic model of good neighbour relations characterized by political trust, mutual support, equality and partnership.
Within a short period Kazakhstan and China successfully solved the frontier problem. In 1995 China, being a nuclear nation, provided security guarantees to Kazakhstan. The sides achieved a significant progress in terms of joint usage of cross border rivers' resources and multiplied the trade volume. In 2005 Kazakhstan and China established strategic partnership.
The Kazakh-Chinese relations had been brought to a brand new level of all-round strategic partnership over the last couple of years. President of the People's Republic of China Hu Jintao made it public during his official visit to Kazakhstan in June 2011.
The upcoming visit of President Nazarbayev to China on June 6-7, 2012 and his participation in the SCO Summit will confirm the high level of political dialogue and mutual trust.
Within the framework of the reception guests enjoyed a photo exhibition dedicated to the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and China. An album with photo materials demonstrating the development of cooperation between the counties was presented during the event. The album generated intense public interest.
