Kazakhstan-China agricultural products turnover stands at USD 941 million

Agriculture remains the key component of Kazakhstan-China relations, which is proved by the positive dynamics of farm product sales, Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparbayev told roundtable discussions in Beijing with the participation of top Chinese food and agricultural companies.

The turnover of agro-industrial products in 2013 between Kazakhstan and China grew by 1.7 times surpassing 1.3 billion tenge proving mutual interest in the industry’s development. Over the past nine months, agro-industrial complex turnover between the two countries rose by 5.6% to reach 941 billion US dollars, the minister said.

As stated there, the roundtable aims to bring together Kazakhstan's biggest producers of plant-growing and animal products and their potential partners from China and foster a dialogue and business ties.

Representatives from Kazakhstan’s Meat Union, oil-bearing crops processing companies, and other associations as well as heads of Kazakhstan’s producers and exporters of animal, plant, grain and forage products attended the event.

Following the talks those presented signed a package of commercial agreements between Kazakhstan’s and China’s companies on agro-industrial cooperation.

B2B meetings were held as part of the roundtable.

According to China's statistics, for the past 10 months, the total trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China made 36.5 billion US dollars.

Earlier Kazakh Transport Minister Marat Karabayev announced the increase in container transportation from China by 25 times. He noted that the construction of a container hub began in the Aktau port while the construction of a Kazakhstani terminal in the European part of the corridor is being worked on.
