Kazakhstan, China agreed to build water apportioning facilities on cross-border rivers
ASTANA. January 23. KAZINFORM The 10th session of the Kazakh-Chinese Commission on Cross-Border Rivers has been held in Astana.
Positive results were achieved during the session. The sides agreed to build water apportioning facilities on several small and medium cross-border and boundary rivers, the press service says.
Besides, the sides reached an agreement to conclude works on assessment of water resources of the two countries in 2014. Results of this work will form a basis for development of a water apportioning agreement between Kazakhstan and China in 2015.
An agreement on construction of a joint protection facility on Khorgos River in order to prevent avalanching from the mountain kettle lakes was also reached.
