Kazakhstan celebrates the Day of Knowledge (PHOTOS)

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Today Kazakhstan celebrates the Day of Knowledge.

The 1st of September - the Day of Knowledge is celebrated today across many CIS member countries and former Soviet republics: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Ukraine. It symbolizes the start of another school year for schoolchildren and teachers at schools and students and professors at universities. About 2.6 million children across Kazakhstan will seat at their desks. 300 thousand of the children are first-grade students. In comparison with the previous year this number increased by 70 thousand. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has visited a new grammar school № 75 in Astana. The school opened its doors to more than one thousand children. The school has a conference room, 56 classrooms with interactive equipment and a library with an electronic subscription.

It should be noted that the new grammar school has a laboratory for scientific research in the fields of space and medicine. Head of State has congratulated schoolchildren, their parents and teachers with the Day of Knowledge. "Children must be patriotic, tolerant. They should respect their parents and elders. These are the enduring values of our society", he said.

According to N. Nazarbayev, this year Kazakhstan has put into operation 153 schools, 63 of which opened their doors today. During the years of independence one thousand schools have been built in Kazakhstan.
